Royal Central among finalists for prestigious journalism award

Royal Central is among ten finalists in the best specialist site for journalism category as part of the Drum Online Media Awards, which celebrates the very best in online journalism.

Royal Central, which celebrates its fifth birthday this year, is the world’s most popular source for news on the British Royal Family and monarchies of the world.

With total readership tripling in little over a year, the efforts of our contributors and editors have been recognised with the nomination which “identifies the cleverest, boldest and most original purveyors of news and views from around the world.”

A lavish awards ceremony will be held in Central London on June 1st when the winner will be announced.

Previous winners of Drum awards have included some of the biggest and most innovative names in journalism.

Last year, winners included Al Jazeera, the Guardian and Bloomberg.

Royal Central’s Editor-in-Chief, Charlie Proctor, said: “The fact that we have made it through the rigorous nomination process to become finalists in this prestigious award is an acclamation to all of our writers and contributors who give up their own time to provide quality news on monarchies from around the world.

“From humble beginnings in 2012 when we were lucky to get 10,000 views a month, we now get 10,000 views every few hours as a result of the high-quality news, breaking stories and analysis we provide.

“We are up against some excellent candidates in the final, and making it this far is a huge commendation for all of the work we have produced.”
