Queen Camilla forced to miss important event after becoming ill

The Queen is resting after developing a chest infection and will miss one of the most important events of the year as a result.

Her Majesty has had to drop out of several engagements after becoming ill and among them is the Fields of Remembrance service at Westminster Abbey.

Queen Camilla has opened the Fields for several years and paid her own tribute at the site where thousands of wooden crosses are set up to remember those killed in action.

The Duchess of Gloucester will now attend the service on behalf of The Queen.

Buckingham Palace said Her Majesty hopes to be well enough to take part in Remembrance events this weekend including the Royal British Legion’s Festival of Remembrance and the service at the Cenotaph.
