Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia continue to bring good luck to Spanish athletes

The Princess of Asturias and Infanta Sofia have continued their whirlwind trip to the Olympic Games on Sunday with a busy schedule.

Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia began their Sunday watching the Spanish men’s water polo team take on Australia for their first match of the 2024 Summer Olympic Games. The Spanish team easily beat the Australian side with a final score of 9-5.

The Spanish Royal Family shared stories on Instagram showing the princess and the infanta cheering loudly throughout the game. They were also able to meet the water polo team afterwards and to congratulate them on their victory.

Leonor and Sofia then met swimmer Jessica Vall who was unfortunately eliminated from her competition, and several other members of the Spanish swim team.

Their day did not end there, though, as they headed over to see the women’s field hockey team face off against Great Britain for their first match of the tournament, as well.

Having Leonor and Sofia in attendance seems to be a good luck charm for Spanish athletes, as the women’s field hockey team also clinched their first victory of the tournament with the game ending in a 2-1 victory.

The Spanish Royal Family have split up for the Olympics, with King Felipe and Queen Letizia attending events together, while Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia manage their own schedule.
