Princess Eugenie has welcomed her third child.
The princess had a daughter on August 3rd, a little sister for August, 5, and Ernest, 3.
The little girl, who is fifteenth in line to the throne, weighed in at 6 pounds and 9 ounces.
The first image of the newest royal baby was taken by her proud father, Jack Brooksbank.
And Princess Eugenie’s daughter has a royal first to her name.
She made her debut in Lisbon and becomes the first member of the House of Windsor to be born in Portugal.
The King has been informed of the arrival of his great niece. In a statement, on social media, the Royal Family said ”Their Majesties The King and Queen….were delighted to be informed of the news”.
Buckingham Palace announced that Princess Eugenie was expecting her third baby several months ago. The royal statement was unexpected and was seen as a show of support for Eugenie, 36, who has kept a low profile since her parents lost their titles. Both were also mentioned in the latest tranche of documents relating to Jeffrey Epstein.
The new royal baby follows her mother and two brothers in the succession and is ahead of both Princess Anne and Prince Edward in the line to the throne.
Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank have lived in Portugal for parts of the year for some time due to his work commitments.
Their two sons were born in London but their daughter was delivered in a hospital in the Portuguese capital.
And although the little girl’s birth will be registered in Portugal, and not in the UK, that won’t necessarily entitle her to Portuguese citizenship. Laws in the country say that only happens if parents fulfil detailed residency requirements.
The baby girl’s name hasn’t yet been announced but it’s likely to have a Victorian feel, given the pick of her parents so far. August and Ernest are both names belonging to the family of Prince Albert, husband and first cousin of Queen Victoria.
