Prince George has made his first official appearance in Scotland as he and his siblings were surprise guests at a major event, alongside their parents.
George, 13, joined the Prince and Princess of Wales as they attended events at the Commonwealth Games which are being held in Glasgow.
It’s the first time that George has been seen attending a public event in the country. As second in line to the throne and in direct line of succession, he is set, one day, to be King of Scots.
It was a debut, too, for Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 8, as neither has previously made an official public appearance in Scotland.
The Wales family headed to the Hydro at the Games to watch the netball semi final between Australia and Jamaica.
While it’s known that the family have spent summer holidays at Balmoral, the private royal residence in Aberdeenshire, the three Wales children have never been publicly seen attending an official event in Scotland.
George, Charlotte and Louis were all photographed spending time with their great grandparents, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, at Balmoral and they are known to holiday there with their grandfather, King Charles, who spends a chunk of the summer there every year with Queen Camilla.
The Commonwealth Games have had strong royal support since they got under way at the end of July. The King and Queen opened the event, arriving at the inaugural ceremony in the Tardis as they took part in a fun sketch alongside Sir Chris Hoy.
The Princess Royal has been spotted at a number of event as have the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. Prince Edward has seemed to be a particular fan of watching bowls, always a popular Commonwealth Games event.
The Commonwealth Games come to an end on August 2 2026.
