Poignant moment at heart of French State Visit as President Macron to make special royal tribute

The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, will make a poignant tribute in the middle of his State Visit to the UK.

President Macron will place flowers on the Tomb of Queen Elizabeth II at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor as his important visit gets fully under way.

The tribute will come during a private visit to the Chapel with his wife, Brigitte.

The two will spend time alone at the chapel on the second day of their State Visit to honour the late Queen.

President Macron often spoke of his admiration for Queen Elizabeth II and paid fulsome tributes to her on her death in September 2022.

The very personal tribute will be at the heart of the historic State Visit which runs from July 8 until July 10 2025.

The French President and First Lady arrive at RAF Northolt on the morning of July 8 where the Prince and Princess of Wales will be waiting to meet them.

William and Catherine will accompany Mr and Mrs Macron to Windsor where King Charles and Queen Camilla will host an official welcome.

After a carriage procession through Windsor to the Castle, The King and the President of France will inspect a Guard of Honour. Their Majesties then host a lunch for their guests accompanied by the Royal Family.

The afternoon of July 8 sees President and Madame Macron travel to London to pay tribute at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Emmanuel Macron also addresses parliamentarians during a visit to the Palace of Westminster.

The French President and his wife then return to Windsor Castle where King Charles and Queen Camilla host a glittering State Banquet for them on the evening of July 8 with the Royal Family also attending.

The spectacular event will also see speeches from The King and President Macron.

King Charles and Queen Camilla paid a State Visit to France in 2023.
