King Charles to appoint new Prime Minister

King Charles III will appoint a new Prime Minister within hours.

Labour secured a landslide victory in the general election and are now the largest party in parliament. The King will ask their leader, Sir Keir Starmer, to form a new government.

The traditional ‘’kissing of hands’’ will follow.

Just minutes before receiving Sir Keir, King Charles will hold a final audience with Rishi Sunak who will step aside as Prime Minister. The Conservatives ended the night with their worst general election result ever.

Although this parliament is the decision of voters, The King must accept the resignation of the outgoing Prime Minister and ask the leader of the new largest party to form an administration before the process of government can begin again.

The State Opening of Parliament is set to take place on July 17th 2024.

Sir Keir will become the third Prime Minister of the reign of King Charles III. His first, Liz Truss, lost her seat in this election.
