The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have received a congratulatory call from Denmark’s Crown Prince Frederik and Princess Mary on the arrival of their first child, Prince George.
Earlier this week, the Danish Palace confirmed Frederik and Mary had made a call to the new parents in a “private” capacity to send their best wishes to Prince William and Kate.

The two royal couples have known each other for several years, and in November 2011 Prince William and the Duchess travelled to Denmark on an official visit to UNICEF’s emergency supply centre in Copenhagen to highlight the charity’s work.
Denmark’s Crown Prince Frederik and wife Princess Mary welcomed the British royals to the country and after the trip to UNICEF, the couple held a private lunch at their official residence Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen.
The Danish Royals were among the first to congratulate the Cambridges in December 2012, when the couple announced they would be expecting their first child this summer.
During William and Kate’s visit to Denmark, Frederik and Mary offered them advice on modernising their future royal home, as the Danish couple gave them a personal tour of their revamped home.
Prince Frederik and Princess Mary have been praised for their balanced approach to royal duties and parenthood in the 21st century and the couple are hugely popular in their native country.
The Danish couple have four children together, Prince Christian, Princess Isabella, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, and will likely offer the Cambridges support in the next few years as they balance being parents and their royal life.
