Prince Harry on solo trip in Zambia

On Monday, the Duke of Sussex landed in Lusaka, Zambia for the two-day visit.

The Duchess of Sussex stayed home while Prince Harry who took the trip on the request of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

Upon landing, the Duke was met my 9-year-old Jane Chawanangwa. The young girl presented Harry with flowers which he bent down to accept them and chat with her.

Also on hand for Harry’s arrival were dancers dressed in traditional garb.

From the airport, Prince Harry paid a visit to Zambia President Lungu at State House where he also signed the guest book.
Monday evening, Harry played his role as President of the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust and Commonwealth Youth Ambassador at a reception. He met with the Queen’s Young Leader Award winners and representatives from British business in Zambia.
Speaking to the crowd, Prince Harry said: “As President of Queen’s Commonwealth Trust, and as Her Majesty’s Commonwealth Youth Ambassador, I am committed to celebrating young people across the Commonwealth who are making a difference in their communities.”

Today, Prince Harry will start the day at the visit Burma Barracks to commemorate WWI and WWII Zambian veterans. The Duke will spend time with the Zambian veterans and widows before viewing a “photographic exhibition about the African soldier of WWI.”

Harry will also take a trip to Circus Zambia. According to a press release from Kensington Palace, Circus Zambia “equips young people from vulnerable backgrounds
across Lusaka with life skills while providing educational and employment opportunities.”

Prince Harry will meet with more Queen’s Young Leaders and watch a presentation from “CAMA the alumnae network of CAMFED, which tackles poverty
and inequality in sub-Saharan Africa through the education of girls and the empowerment of young women.”

His final engagement of the trip will be with Zambia’s first technology and innovation hub, BongoHive.
