The world’s media and interested population has received the news it was waiting for: Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have welcomed a new baby boy into the world. The new Prince (name) of Cambridge will one day be king after His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales and his son Prince William.
Reaction to the birth has been widespread both in worldwide reach and in ways of celebration. In New Zealand the non-profit group Monarchy New Zealand has worked alongside public and private officials to get around 40 buildings to light up blue in recognition of the newborn royal.
Major buildings included in the light up effort are Auckland’s Sky Tower and Memorial Museum. Along with New Zealand, Australian and Canadian landmarks have also lit up including Niagara Falls.
The organisation emailed an official press release with the (at the time) confirmed 37 buildings and landmarks that would be illuminated, the list is as follows:
