‘George is a little bit of a rascal’ says Prince William in first interview since becoming a father

Prince William has revealed his baby son Prince George reminds him of when he and brother Prince Harry were younger as the new heir is “a little bit of a rascal.”

The proud new father was speaking to CNN’s Max Foster in his first interview since he and the Duchess of Cambridge left the Lindo Wing with their first child, Prince George.

William has revealed his baby son Prince George is a “little rascal.”

“I was on such a high anyway, and so was Catherine about George that we were happy to show him off to whoever wanted to see him,” the Duke said, referring the world’s media waiting outside the hospital as they left. “It’s nice that people want to see George, so, you know – I’m just glad he wasn’t screaming his head off.”

The Prince joked he had practiced the all-important car seat moment and revealed he had still been terrified in the moments before leaving the hospital to take his wife and son home.

“Believe me, it wasn’t my first time,” William joked. “I know there’s been speculation about that. I had to practice, I really did.”

William said his wife was doing a “fantastic job” as she settles into motherhood.

As the couple left the London hospital William took to the drivers seat as he took his new family home to Kensington Palace. “That was the most nerve-wracking thing for me, having my family in the car,” William explained, adding “I didn’t stall, well it’s an automatic so it’s alright.”

The Duke, who married Kate in 2011 at Westminster Abbey, also spoke of George’s character and revealed he’s “a little bit of a rascal.”

“So he either reminds me of my brother of me when I was younger,” he said. “He’s doing very well at the moment.”

William also praised wife the Duchess of Cambridge adding: “She’s doing a fantastic job.”

The Duchess will make her first public appearance since leaving the Lindo Wing next month when she joins William at the Tusk Conservation Awards on September 12.

The full interview with William will be screened on CNN International on September 16, and will form part of a one-hour documentary titled ‘Prince William’s Passion: New Hope, New Father.’
