BREAKING: British Deputy Prime Minister Damian Green resigns

Damian Green has resigned from the position of Her Majesty’s First Secretary of State after an investigation concluded that he breached the UK ministerial code.

Mr Green was appointed de facto Deputy Prime Minister earlier this year after Theresa May narrowly won the June 2017 General Election with a minority government.

An investigation found that Mr Green made “inaccurate and misleading” statements about what he knew about claims pornography had been found on a computer in his Commons office in 2008.

Mr Green apologised for his conduct, and the Prime Minister said she is “extremely sad” at his departure.

It is expected there will now be a government reshuffle, with The Queen formally approving the appointment of a new First Secretary in the coming days.

Mrs May’s right-hand man, who was appointed Secretary for Work and Pensions by Mrs May less than a year ago, has been an MP for 20 years and has known the Prime Minister for around 40 years.
