Happy Birthday to a future queen

Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway, in line to become queen regnant one day, had come of age in January but the pandemic put paid to celebrations. As summer started, so did her birthday party with a spectacular gala dinner at the Royal Palace in Oslo. There was a tiara for the birthday girl and royals from every corner of the continent to celebrate along with her. And the young princess gave a confident speech that charmed everyone. A Happy Birthday indeed.

A major meeting in Madrid

With war on the continent of Europe, the NATO meeting of 2022 was among the most important of recent times. It took place in Madrid with King Felipe hosting world leaders. The Spanish monarch took a leading role in many of the events of the three day summit and welcomed US President, Joe Biden.

Crown Princess Mary joined Norway’s Queen Sonja at the opening of the new National Museum in Oslo. Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit also attended. The close bonds between these two families were on show for much of the month and hinted a a strong royal future to come.
