It might be over a year away but plans are already being drawn up to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Elizabeth II’s historic reign will be feted in a long weekend of parties in June 2022. We can expect Europe’s ruling houses to be involved but they will have to co-ordinate diaries well because the continent’s royal families have some pretty big milestones of their own coming up that year. Here, Royal Central looks at the other big regal parties of 2022.
A Golden Jubilee in Denmark
Elizabeth II isn’t the only monarch to make a milestone in 2022. On January 14th that year, Margrethe II will have been Queen of Denmark for fifty years.

A set of half centuries

Look Who’s Forty
Life begins at forty, or so the saying goes, which means 2022 is a big year for two high profile royals although both their birthdays fall in June which means their celebrations might well be overshadowed by the Jubilee.

A future queen celebrates a milestone
Never mind the forty somethings, it’s turning ten that will grab the headlines in 2022.

A big wedding anniversary
February 2022 will also see a special celebration in the Netherlands. King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima mark two decades of marriage on February 2nd that year.

Moments of history
Monaco has two rather important historic anniversaries in this historic year. September 14th 2022 marks the fortieth anniversary of the death of Princess Grace, still one of the most famous royals of all.
