King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden celebrated his birthday at the Royal Palace in Stockholm with a number of firsts. He was joined by his family and they had clearly compared notes on style before their appearance with some even swapping clothes for some real royal recycling.
While King Carl Gustaf was joined by Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Carl Philip in the courtyard for the salute, the rest of Sweden’s royals watched the ceremony from the palace balcony.Â
Crown Princess Victoria’s daughter, Princess Estelle, second in line to the throne, headed into her mum’s wardrobe for her look. She wore her mother’s red single-breasted coat from Gant for her latest balcony appearance. It’s not the first recycle for this coat – it’s a piece that her aunt, Princess Sofia, has also borrowed.
Estelle also used her mum’s gems –Â a pair of earrings and a necklace from Kreuger Jewellery.
King Carl Gustaf’s younger daughter, Princess Madeleine, and her family also joined the group on the balcony. Madeleine’s eldest child, 11 year old Princess Leonore, was also recycling as borrowed her cousin’s pink gingham Self Portrait dress and paired it with a white bouclé jacket from HM. Princess Estelle originally wore the spring dress in 2023 for an official portrait with her mother and grandfather.Â
The newest family member, Princess Ines, was also included. Born in February, the little one was cradled byh mum Princess Sofia on the balcony to watch over dad Prince Carl Philip.Â
And that wasn’t the only first for the family. Crown Princess Victoria, who is carrying out military training, appeared in uniform at the event for the first time and also made her debut in the courtyard for the salute.
