This heir to a throne just made a very relatable style swap and I’m all here for it

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden mixes summer style with autumn weather as she holds a bright blue umbrella to protect her cream suit from the rain.

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden has made a very practical style choice during a big day out.

Victoria was on a day out in Gamleby in south east Sweden when the summer weather took a turn for autumn and the future queen found herself in the middle of a downpour that even included a deluge of hailstones.

The ever practical Crown Princess swapped out the heels she had picked to go with her cream skirt suit and instead went for a walkabout in a pair of white trainers.

It was a total mum move from the future queen who has a teenager, 13 year old Princess Estelle, and a son, Prince Oscar, 9, to keep her on her toes.

Given how sparkling the shoes were, they were clearly in Victoria’s emergency pile and not just the ones she wears to run around after her children.

The swap came during a day of celebrations in Gamleby which this year marks its 750th anniversary.

The Crown Princess of Sweden, with her husband Prince Daniel, arrived in the old town on a rainy morning. Gamleby was formerly called Gamla Västervik and stands on the site of the original town of Vastervik.

There’s a lot of history being celebrated in the area’s jubilee and a big crowd turned out to see Victoria and Daniel despite the weather.

At one point, the rain got so heavy that both royals reached for their raincoats with the future queen in a cream mac and her husband opting for a black version.

Victoria is known to be a High Street fashion fan and that echoed in her latest two piece which included a cream pleated skirt from H&M.

The day in Gamleby saw the heir to the Swedish throne visit the town’s largest employer, Saab Barracuda. With Prince Daniel, she toured some of the facilities that make military camouflage equipment.

They also got a chance to further celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the area as they toured some of the most famous parts of the old town with storyteller, Mattias Holm.

There was a special lunch, hosted in their honour, where food was cooked by students from a local hunting and game management programme.

There was a touch of royal history, too, about the day which Crown Princess Victoria was keen to emphasise. In 1954, her great grandfather, King Gustaf VI Adolf, visited Gamleby during an ancient royal tradition. Swedish monarchs usually travelled to each part of their realm on their accession to show themselves to the people and be accepted by them. Gustaf VI Adolf took his ”Eriksgata”, as the tour is known, to Gamleby a few years after taking the throne.

During her time there, Crown Princess Victoria referenced the Eriksgata when she said ”Before I came here, I watched a documentary film from that visit. There the old king stated that “you live beautifully here” and I can only agree. Then the sun shone over the countryside. You may not really be able to say that today, but the warmth of meeting you brightens the day.

It was another nod to the heavy rain that had followed her visit. But like every working mum, Victoria was ready with more sensible shoes and took a style win while she did it.
