Queen Silvia back at King Carl Gustaf’s side as new bishops appointed

Queen Silvia joined King Carl Gustaf on Sunday for an important event at Uppsala Cathedral, Sweden.

The Swedish King and Queen attended the consecration service for two new bishops in the Church of Sweden on Sunday. At the service, Teresia Derlén was consecrated as Bishop of the Diocese of Härnösand while Ulrica Fritzson was consecrated as Bishop of the Diocese of Skara.

Queen Silvia chose an elegant look for the day, in a previously worn black two-piece skirt suit. She accessorised it with a white pillbox hat with a short net veil from Mode Rosa, a Darby Scott handbag, and bracelets from Cartier and Englebert.

The Queen of Sweden has had a busy week. The German President, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and his wife, Elke Büdenbender, received her at Bellevue Palace on Wednesday. She then attended a round table event to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the founding of the World Childhood Foundation. Queen Silvia helped found the WCF in 1999 to help fight against sexual abuse against children.

She also has had a difficult week personally with the passing of her sister-in-law, Charlotte Sommerlath. She attended the family funeral in Germany before returning to Sweden at the weekend.
