A special royal event for the King of Sweden after recovery from heart surgery

King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden has gone back to royal duties after heart surgery and his return has had a rather royal ring to it.

The King of Sweden welcomed Her Majesty Margareta, Custodian of the Crown of Romania to the Royal Palace as she visited Stockholm.

Queen Silvia of Sweden and Prince Radu of Romania were also present. Crown Princess Victoria, Princess Christina and her husband, Tord Magnuson, joined the group.

After posing for official photos, they held private talks and a lunch.

The lunch, on March 8th 2023, was the latest in a series of engagements for the King of Sweden as he resumes his diary following surgery. On March 7th 2023, he attended a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee. He is chair of the committee which is a consultative body between the Swedish parliament and government. Crown Princess Victoria also attended the meeting, as is usual.

King Carl Gustaf underwent heart surgery on February 20th 2023 with the planned procedure announced just a few days beforehand.
