Prince Joachim gets behind the camera

His Royal Highness Prince Joachim of Denmark will undertake a new mission to find out who the Danish people really are as he narrates a new 6-part series for Danish network DR K which will be produced by Nordisk Film Production and broadcast in the autumn of 2019.

The youngest son of Queen Margrethe and the late Prince Henrik said of his involvement with the programme: “I have always been interested in developments in Denmark. How are we here? What kind of society does we all enjoy? Who has built it up and has it all been a dance of roses?”

He continued: “Who are you? This very banal question may cause most of us to starve out into the air. For yes, who are we really? It has taken a fairly long kingdoms to reach today, where we do things that we take for granted and which are completely natural in our daily lives. I think that’s exciting, and I think many people like me. Because if you do not know the past, you will never be real so with the present. In this project, I collaborate with professional television people. It’s a whole new world for me, and it’s very exciting.”

Prince Joachim will be the primary narrator for the programme and will be joined by noted Danes throughout the six episodes in his quest to become wiser about who the Danish people are, where they come from and where they are going.

This will be the second television documentary participation for the prince who appeared in a revealing interview broadcast in Denmark last year at Christmas. In the programme the prince engaged in an open and honest discussion about the perceptions and misconceptions the Danish people have about him, most notably that there is an idea that he is arrogant. The prince was noted as showing a rarely seen sensitive side as he spoke about the impact of these perceptions.
