King Harald of Norway showed his health is continuing to recover as he attended the traditional Christmas Day church service at Oslo’s Holmenkollen Chapel.
His Majesty used walking sticks to move around the church to worship on Christmas Day alongside Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, and Princess Ingrid Alexandra.
The royals heard the Holmenkollen Chamber Choir perform before the soloist, Katharina Frogner Kockum, sang “Ave Maria.”
Parish Priest Paul Erik Wirgenes focused his sermon on Chapter 1 of the Gospel of John, Verses 1-14.
The Royal Family traditionally attends a church service at Holmenkollen Chapel on Christmas Day; however, due to the global health crisis, this was the first time the family has appeared at the chapel since 2019.
The chapel is located close to Kongsseteren, the royal lodge where the Royal Family spends the Christmas holiday.
King Harald was admitted to the hospital in Oslo on 19 December for three days. The King received treatment for an infection and returned home on 21 December.
He is due to give his New Year’s Eve address on 31 December; however, upon his hospital stay, it was confirmed that alternate plans were being considered for the speech. Although, no changes to the address have been announced by the Royal Court.
