All the Princess’ horses: Amalia on inspection ahead of big event

The Princess of Orange is doing her part to prepare for Prince’s Day on Tuesday- on Monday she paid a visit to the Royal Military Constabulary to visit the horses and riders who will take part in the big day.

Princess Amalia was in Wassenaar to visit the mounted horse guard starring in Prince’s Day. Given a tour by commanders, she was introduced to several riders and was able to learn more about the training that both the riders and horses undergo, and how they are preparing for the major ceremonial event.

The Princess of Orange also spent a bit of time on a horse herself, including in the group photo from her visit. She looked very happy to be able to meet some of the horses and saved some of her time to head to the stables.

Prince’s Day, known as Prinsjesdag in the Netherlands, is a major event on the Dutch Royal Calendar. King Willem-Alexander will be joined by Queen Maxima, Princess Amalia, Princess Alexia, Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien, and the family will process from the Noordeinde Palace to the Royal Theatre in the Hague.

There the King of the Netherlands will give the Speech From the Throne on behalf of the government and then the Dutch royal family will return to the palace. They traditionally finish the day with a balcony appearance.
