The christening of Prince Charles of Luxembourg: the first photos

Prince Charles, second in line to the throne of Luxembourg, has been christened. Four month old Charles, first child of Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie, was baptised at the Abbey of St. Maurice in Clervaux in northern Luxembourg, surrounded by his closest relations.

The ceremony was conducted by Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich, Archbishop of Luxembourg who was assisted by Leo Wagener, Fernand Franck, and Reverend Père Dom Michel Jorrot.

The baby prince’s godparents are his paternal uncle, Prince Louis, and his maternal aunt, Countess Gaëlle de Lannoy. Louis arrived at the ceremony with his brother, Prince Felix, and sister-in-law, Princess Claire, along with their two children, Princess Amalia and Prince Liam.

Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, the baby’s paternal grandparents, arrived alongside their youngest son, Prince Sebastien, who was on crutches.

Prince Charles Jean Philippe Joseph Marie Guillaume was born on May 10th 2020 and is second in line to the throne behind his father, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume. He will one day rule the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
