Queen Margrethe is back at the ballet

Queen Margrethe was back at the theatre to enjoy a mixed programme of ballet from the World Ballet Company at Sostrupp Castle on Norddjurs.

The queen was able to see the World Ballet Company perform excerpts of Sleeping Beauty, Manon, and Giselle, three beloved classical story ballets on Saturday evening.

Although the performance had originally been scheduled for outside of Sostrupp Castle, poor weather forced the event to move indoors. However, everyone looked to enjoy the performance.

Queen Margrethe has long been immersed in the ballet world. She has worked with both the Royal Danish Ballet and the Tivoli Ballet Theatre on multiple projects to design sets and costumes, including for The Nutcracker, The Snow Queen, and Thumbelina

The World Ballet Company is made up of artists from several different companies and is based in Los Angeles. However, the WBC tours extensively and “intentionally presents in cities with less access to ballet, introducing the art form to many and offering ballet fans an annual occasion to look forward to.”

In addition to working on ballets, Queen Margrethe regularly attends the ballet with her friends and family, and she often hosts other visiting royals at the ballet.
