Relief for a prince as his princess confirms she’d still pick him as a husband

They have been married for decades so it was something of a relief for Prince Lorenz, Archduke of Austria when his wife confirmed she’d wed him all over again if given the chance.

Belgium’s Princess Astrid told reporters she’d change several things about her wedding day but not the man she married. The couple were talking to the press ahead of the marriage of their eldest daughter, Princess Maria Laura, which takes place in less than two weeks’ time.

As she looked back at her own wedding, on September 22nd 1984, the princess noted she had got married in the rain. But she added ”you know what they say, a wet bride is a lucky bride. If I could do it all over again, I would change some details. But I would marry the same man!”

Her husband laughed and said ”that’s lucky” as they reminisced about their own marriage. And as his wife spoke of how much their daughter admired her father, he tried to shrug off the compliment but appeared moved.

Astrid also became emotional as she talked about what a special moment it will be for the couple to see their eldest daughter marry. Her voice cracked and she had to look at the ceiling to avert tears as she told reporters that they were both excited for their daughter, adding ”I might get emotional….it will be a huge event for us…”.

With just days to go until the biggest royal wedding in Europe this year, it was also confirmed that the designer of the bride’s gown won’t be revealed until the day itself and, as expected, Princess Maria Laura will walk into her marriage on the arm of her father, Prince Lorenz.

The couple will wed in a civil ceremony at Brussels Town Hall followed by a religious ceremony at the Cathedral of St. Michel and St. Gudule attended by around 500 guests. Afterwards, the groom will drive them to their reception in a car he has chosen himself.

Maria Laura and William live and work in London but Princess Astrid told reporters that they were determined to wed in Brussels as her daughter ”was born and raised here, she loves the city.”

The royal wedding of Princess Maria Laura and William Isvy takes place on September 10th 2022.
