Princess Astrid of Belgium has reportedly been robbed in Paris of her purse, according to French daily newspaper Le Parisien.
The incident occurred Thursday, 2 June on the A86 Aubervilliers in France. Le Parisien reports that an assailant shattered the passenger window in the car she was traveling in.
They then proceeded to take Princess Astrid’s handbag which contained 2,000 euros and identity papers.
King Philippe’s sister was traveling with her husband, the Archduke Lorenz, and one of their daughters. The investigation into the crime is being conducted by the territorial security of Seine-Saint-Denis.
It is believed that the robbers committed the crime whilst the family’s car was lined up at the toll on a motorway exit just towards the city of Saint-Denis.
This is a developing story. More information will be added as Royal Central receives it.
Luckily no one was hurt. Paris, as is many other places in Europe are becoming increasingly dangerous. Can’t imagine what it will be like in ten years.
