PHOTOS: Princess Salma of Jordan graduates from university

Princess Salma of Jordan has graduated from the University of Southern California (USC).

The Princess graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in archaeology.

King Abdullah, Queen Rania, Princess Iman and Jameel Alexander Thermiotis attended the graduation ceremony in Los Angeles on 12 May.

The Princess graduated alongside Sasha Obama, the younger child of former US President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. The King and Queen were seen chatting with the former President and his wife at the graduation ceremony.

Queen Rania’s Office has shared images from Princess Salma’s graduation with Royal Central.

Crown Prince Hussein acted as Regent in his father’s absence but took the time to congratulate his sister on Instagram, writing: “Mabrook to the coolest Salma.”

The Royal Hashemite Court also extended their congratulations on social media: “Warmest congratulations to Her Royal Highness Princess Salma bint Abdullah II on her graduation from the University of Southern California with a BA degree.”

He shared a screenshot from a FaceTime call from the graduation ceremony where Princess Salma showed him the Jordanian flag on her red and gold graduation stole.

Queen Rania also shared images from the day on her Instagram (@queenrania), saying: “So proud to celebrate my Salma’s graduation yesterday from the University of Southern California. I can’t wait to see what you do next. Congratulations!”

Salma’s aunt, Princess Alia, wrote on Queen Rania’s post, “Congratulations,” as well.

Princess Salma is the third child and younger daughter of King Abdullah and Queen Rania; she was born in Amman on 26 September 2000.

Salma has also succeeded in the military, graduating from Sandhurst in the UK and becoming Jordan’s first female jet pilot in 2020.
