Bangkok’s Royal Palace has issued a statement on the health of King Maha Vajiralongkorn’s daughter.
Princess Bajrakitiyabha was reported to have fallen ill on December 14th 2022 at Khao Yai.
On the morning of December 15th 2022, the Royal Palace confirmed that the 44 year old princess was unwell, saying that she had lost consciousness.
Journalist Andrew MacGregor Marshall, a specialist on Thailand’s Royal Family, says the Princess fell ill whilst walking her dogs, with the King flying to hospital shortly after.
As initial reports of the princess’ illness emerged, Mr MacGregor Marshall tweeted: “Several royal sources say Princess Bajrakitiyabha suffered a heart attack today while running with her dogs in Khao Yai national park. Her father King Vajiralongkorn rushed there in a helicopter.
Princess Bajrakitiyabha is the eldest daughter of King Maha Vajiralongkorn. Her mother was the King’s first wife, Princess Soamsawali. She was born in 1978 in Bangkok and educated in Thailand and the United Kingdom before studying law at Cornell University in the United States. She has held a number of high ranking positions in Thailand.
