Princess Charlotte is celebrating her 11th birthday and is the latest sports star of the Royal Family on her big day.
As the princess, third in line to the throne, marked her special moment, the royals released a new portrait and a video showing Charlotte on a recent holiday.
In the video, shared on socials as is usual for the royals now, Charlotte is seen playing cricket and showing her love of sports, a passion she shares with both her parents. The princess is also seen snuggling up to the pet dogs owned by the Wales family.
And there’s also fun on the beach as she uses shells to create a heart in the sand.
The video was shared with a thank you message for all the birthday wishes that had been sent to Charlotte.

On the morning of her 11th birthday, May 2nd 2026, her parents released a brand new photo of their only daughter, taken in Cornwall.
It was taken by Matt Porteous who has taken several special portraits for the Wales family and who took to their social media channel to wish the princess a happy birthday.
The Prince and Princess of Wales recently spent a break in the county with their three children – William and Kate are also Duke and Duchess of Cornwall, the title traditionally given to the heir to the English throne.
The new portrait, shows Charlotte enjoying a walk in a field filled with daisies. The princess is clearly taking fashion tips from her mum – Charlotte’s top in the photo is very like Kate’s favourite Breton stripe jumpers which she has worn on many occasions.
The Cornish photo is the latest from the holiday to mark a big moment for the Wales family. Prince Louis started the trend as he turned 8 on April 23 and was seen in an image from the break to mark his birthday.
On April 29, the Prince and Princess of Wales shared a photo of them with their three children as they celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary. Kate was seen lying in the grass with Louis and Charlotte while her eldest son, Prince George, sat next to her with his dad, Prince William.
It’s understood that the Wales family was in Cornwall earlier in April during the Easter holidays. On Easter Sunday itself they were at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor where they attended morning service with The King and Queen as well as other members of the Royal Family including Princess Anne and the Duke of Edinburgh.
Charlotte’s birthday is being spent privately with her family. She was born on May 2 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, and was fourth in line to the throne at the time. She became third in line on September 8 2022 on the death of her great grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and the accession of her grandfather as King Charles III.
