The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have arrived in Belize at the start of their Platinum Jubilee tour.
They touched down in an RAF Voyager at at Philip S. W Goldson International Airport on March 19th 2022 for the start of a four day visit to the country.
The Governor General of Belize, Froya Tzalam, was the first to greet them.
The Duke of Cambridge inspected a guard of honour by the Belize Defence Force at the airport as the couple began their trip.
They were given an official welcome by the Prime Minister of Belize, John Briceño, and his wife, Rossana Briceño, at the Laing Building where they went on to pose for photos.
Their arrival came just hours after it was confirmed that one planned engagement on the trip, a visit to a cacao farm in the village of Indian Creek, had been cancelled following protests. Demonstrators highlighted an ongoing dispute over land between residents and a charity of which William is patron, Flora and Fauna International. There were also concerns about the royal helicopter landing on a local football pitch.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will tour Belize between March 19th and March 22nd as part of a Jubilee visit across the Caribbean which will also take them to Jamaica and the Bahamas.
