Princess Charlene hopes she will be back in Monaco by October. The princess, who has been in South Africa for nearly three months, shared her wishes in a radio interview.
Charlene was speaking to South Africa Radio 702 when she addressed her ongoing stay in the country. Her trip, which began in early May, was only meant to last around 10 days but soon after her arrival she sought medical help as she was experiencing problems with her ears. Doctors discovered she had a sinus infection, caused by complications from a sinus graft. She has since undergone treatment and further procedures but is still unable to travel by air.
It means that she has to wait for the medical go ahead to fly back to Monaco and her husband, Prince Albert II, and their six year old twins, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella.
Princess Charlene told South Africa Radio 702’s Mandy Wiener that ”this is the longest period I’ve actually been away from Europe and my children…I’m very sad I can’t be with my children during this summer in Europe.”
However, she added that her sinus infection was ”quite a serious one” and her recovery couldn’t be rushed. In the interview, on July 30th 2021, she described the healing process as a ”waiting game”.
Albert, Jacques and Gabriella visited Charlene in South Africa earlier on in the summer and the princess said she hoped they would be able to spend time with her in the weeks ahead although she added that their visit depended on the political situation in the country.
She has also shared images of herself chatting to them on Facetime and revealed in the interview that she speaks to them every day.
