The Duchess of Sussex’s Birthday: 12 months, 12 photos

The Duchess of Sussex turns 38 today and she’s had quite the year to look back on as she celebrates her special day. Royal patronages, royal tours and a royal baby have all made the past 12 months ones to remember. So as Meghan marks her birthday, Royal Central looks back at her past year, in photos.

On return from honeymoon, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex began a string of engagements including a special production of Hamilton put on in support of the charity, Sentebale.

The Duchess of Sussex revealed that she had been working for several months on a cookbook in support of those affected by the Grenfell Tower Fire in 2017.

Meghan undertook her first major international visit with a tour of Australia and New Zealand and as she touched down, she and Harry confirmed they were expecting their first baby.

As well as joining the Royal Family as they commemorated Remembrance Day and the centenary of the Armistice of World War One, Meghan had another regal rite of passage as she attended the Royal Variety Performance for the first time.

The Duchess of Sussex’s first four royal patronages were announced – Mayhew, Smart Works, the Association of Commonwealth Universities and the National Theatre.

Another overseas tour saw the Duke and Duchess of Sussex head to Morocco for a three day visit.

Meghan took part in a discussion for International Women’s Day organised by the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust. She was also named as its Vice President.

Meghan and Harry set up their own Instagram account – Sussex Royal now has 9.2 million followers.

The birth of Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor on May 6th 2019 marked a new chapter in Harry and Meghan’s lives.
