Princess Beatrice is set to move out of St James’s Palace

The Duke of York’s eldest daughter, Princess Beatrice of York, is set to move out of St James’s Palace in the not too distant future.

According to The Mail on Sunday, Beatrice will be moving out of the apartment that she shares with her sister, Eugenie, once she gets married to Jack Brooksbank in Autumn.

Once Eugenie moves out, Prince Andrew has decided that there is little point in paying rent for the apartment being as Beatrice lives in New York for most of the year.

The Duke of York reportedly pays the £20,000 a year rent for the apartment at the palace.

As Beatrice and Eugenie are not full time working royals, they must pay rent to live in the palaces and are not provided accommodation for free.

This is also the case for Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, although there was controversy a few years ago when it was revealed that The Queen paid for the majority of their £120,000 per year rent at Kensington Palace.

At the end of January, the Duke of York announced the engagement of his daughter, Princess Eugenie to Jack Brooksbank following a seven-year relationship.

They will marry on the 12th of October at St George’s Chapel in Windsor; this is the same venue Prince Harry and Meghan Markle chose for their May wedding. The wedding of Eugenie and Jack is expected to be a private family affair and smaller than the wedding of her cousin Prince Harry.

Once they are married, Eugenie is expected to move out of St James’s Palace – a move in which Beatrice will follow suit.

The pair didn’t need permission from Her Majesty The Queen to get married as the rule applies only to the first six in line to the throne. Princess Eugenie currently sits in eighth place, but she will be bumped down a spot upon the birth of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s third child in April.
