The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived in Suva, Fiji, for the second portion of their tour on Tuesday for a series of ceremonial engagements.
Upon arrival at the airport, Harry and Meghan were greeted with a Guard of Honour and then travelled to Borron House to visit the President of Fiji. Following this, the couple attended an official welcome ceremony in Albert Park, reminiscent of the one attended by The Queen and Prince Philip in 1953 during the Commonwealth Tour.
The couple stood on the balcony at the Grand Pacific Hotel, another call-back to The Queen and Prince Philip’s visit; and then attended a reception and State Dinner within the hotel hosted by the President of Fiji.
For the daytime events, Meghan wore a white, long-sleeved cocktail dress by Australian brand Zimmermann paired with a hat by British milliner Stephen Jones.
Her accessories included a black straw clutch by Kayu Anna, Tabitha Simmons sling-back pumps, earrings that The Queen had given her (which Meghan first wore in Chichester on an away-day with The Queen), a delicate bracelet given to her by Prince Charles, and stacking rings by Catbird.
For the reception and State Dinner, Meghan wore a long, Fijian blue cape dress by Safiyaa, called the Ginkgo Cape Dress. The dress is a heavy crepe with a cape back featuring a long slit and covered buttons.
Kensington Palace would not confirm the story behind Meghan’s earrings, which were chandelier-style diamonds, leading some to wonder if they had been loaned by The Queen. Meghan also wore a diamond bracelet.
Harry and Meghan continue their visit in Fiji today.
