The Duke of Cambridge will be visiting Liverpool on Tuesday 19th June to open a new crisis centre for suicidal men in the UK.
James’ Place is the first centre of its kind in the UK and aims to help save lives by providing face-to-face therapeutic support for men during times of need. The centre was founded by Clare Milford Haven and Nick Wentworth-Stanley after they lost their 21-year-old son, James, to suicide.
The centre, established by the James Wentworth-Stanley Memorial Fund, will be run from a house in the heart of Liverpool’s historic Georgian Quarter. The house has been renovated to provide a private and welcoming environment for men experiencing suicidal thoughts and has been designed to make them feel at home and at ease.
The Duke of Cambridge will tour the centre and meet the exceptional people who have helped turn James’ Place from an idea into reality. This includes professional therapists, community partners, building managers and fundraisers. James’ family will also be there to meet the Duke of Cambridge and explain to him the origins of James’ Place and their vision of opening more centres across the country. James’ Place opens to service users at the end of July.
Whilst in Liverpool, the Duke of Cambridge will also visit the International Business Festival at the Exhibition Centre Liverpool. It is the biggest business festival in the world and is hosted every two years in its home city of Liverpool. Since it launched in 2014, it has welcomed more than 30,000 visitors from over 100 different countries.
The Duke is Patron of the International Business Festival 2018 and during his time at the festival he will visit different exhibits and zones to see the best of British and International innovation. He will also meet the next generation of young entrepreneurs before delivering a speech to delegates.
