Prince William and Kate join Queen and family for church service at Balmoral

The Earl and Countess of Strathearn (as William and Kate are known in Scotland) joined The Queen and Royal Family on Sunday morning for a service at Crathie Parish Church near Balmoral Castle.

Prince William and Kate smiled as they arrived for the service, which was also attended by The Duke of Edinburgh and the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay (Prince Charles and Camilla).

Both Prince Charles and Prince William were spotted driving their wives to the church which is less than a mile from the Balmoral estate, where they have been staying.

Prince William and Kate joined The Queen at Crathie Kirk Church on Sunday morning.

Kate appeared to be wearing the dark blue and grey tartan workers coat which she was first spotted in when the couple visited Scotland in April.

Noticebly absent from the church gathering was eight-week-old Prince George, who met Prince Philip for the first time earlier this week.

William and Kate arrived at the Balmoral estate last weekend where the Duke of Edinburgh was introduced to his great-grandson.

Philip was the only senior member of the royal family not to meet George after his birth in late July, as he was resting at Sandringham after undergoing surgery earlier in the year.

The arrival of the new parents with their son at Balmoral has led to speculation a photo of The Queen, Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince George may be released soon.

With the monarch-to-be’s arrival, it is the first time since Queen Victoria’s reign that three generations of heirs who stand to inherit the throne are alive.

“Everyone has been waiting for this photo to be taken,” a source added.

The Queen traditionally spends two months on the Scottish estate during her summer holiday. This year, along with Prince William and Kate, the monarch has been joined by Prince Andrew, the Duchess of York and Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.

The Earl and Countess of Wessex have also spent time at Balmoral this summer with The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.
