Royal Danish House releases new images of Princess Isabella for her birthday

The Royal Danish House has released new images of Princess Isabella, the second child of Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, who turns 11-years-old today. The photographs show the Princess with her horse Lancet.

The three photos released today were taken by Princess Isabella’s mother, Crown Princess Mary in Gråsten, Denmark, in April of this year. The Royal Danish House said with the release of the pictures, “the Princess is in the process of her favourite job – time with Lancet the horse.”

Isabella was born on 21 April 2007 at the Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen. She joined her older brother, Prince Christian, who was born in October of 2005.

Following the tradition of the Danish Royal Family, her name was not announced until her christening on 1 July 2007 in the chapel of Fredensborg Palace. Her name was announced then as Her Royal Highness Princess Isabella Henrietta Ingrid Margrethe. Her middle name of Henrietta was given to her in memory of her late maternal grandmother. Of course, her middle name of Margrethe was in honour of her paternal grandmother, the Queen of Denmark.

Isabella and Christian were later joined by two younger siblings, twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine in 2011.

Isabella attends the public Tranegårdsskolen in Gentofte alongside Prince Christian. At just 11-years-old, she does not perform many official duties. She does appear at the yearly photo sessions with the Danish Royal Family, balcony appearances for celebrations like Queen Margrethe’s birthday and a handful of appearances with her parents at official engagements. The Princess lives in Frederik VIII’s Palace with her parents and siblings in Copenhagen.

More information about the Princess can be read here.
