The Walking With the Wounded teams arrived at the South Pole on 13
December 2013 at 13:25 GMT after three grueling weeks of walking
and sled pulling. Temperatures on the 200-mile journey dropped to
-45C along with blustery and sometimes rather dangerous wind
conditions. The three teams skied for approximately 12 hours each
day taking a 10 minute break every two hours.
In episode one, airing on Sunday viewers will meet Walking With The
Wounded Expedition Patron Prince Harry and the members of Team
Glenfiddich. Viewers will hear about the severe injuries suffered
by each member of the team and watch as they endure a demanding
training regime to prepare for their epic journey. Episode one will
also show the team meeting The Queen at Buckingham Palace as well
as their sendoff by friends and family for the quest for the
Antarctic.

WWTW’s goal is to raise awareness of the incredible courage,
daily struggle and fierce determination of wounded servicemen and
women. It is also to raise money to help assist in career placement
and job training for the wounded and sick who are no longer
serving.
The three teams raised money and were representatives for their
respective charities. The United Kingdom for WWTW, Australia for
Soldier On, the United States for Soldiers to Summits and Canada
for Soldier on.
In 2011, Harry was patron of the WWTW North Pole journey and
participated for a few days with the team on their journey. He was
also patron of the 2012 expedition to Mount Everest.
