The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh will visit Northern Ireland
23rd through 25th June. Details from Buckingham Palace will be
forthcoming.
The former IRA leader met The Queen and Prince Philip in Belfast
for the first time, two years ago.
This past April, Mr McGuinness joined in toasting Her Majesty at a
banquet in Windsor Castle during President Michael D Higgins’s
state visit to Britain.
“In my capacity as Deputy First Minister and as a representative of
all our people I will be meeting with Queen Elizabeth,” stated
McGuinness.
“The visit by Queen Elizabeth is an opportunity to demonstrate
mutual respect and to further build on the process of
reconciliation,” he included.
Earlier this month, Northern Secretary Theresa Villiers commented:
“This will be a wonderful opportunity to show her majesty and his
royal highness some of the best that Northern Ireland has to offer
and demonstrate the work being done to bring different parts of the
community together and build a more prosperous future.”
