Prince William reveals his Saturday night outfit pick

The Prince of Wales has joked about his latest outfit for a night out at the weekend as he came across an unusual get up during a visit to a film school.

As students at the London Screen academy in north London showed him how they’re learning the ropes in one of the UK’s biggest creative industries, the heir to the throne came across a steampunk outfit which immediately caught his eye. He told his hosts that ”I might wear it out on a Saturday night” as he saw behind the scenes at the facility.

Prince William, who is president of BAFTA, was visiting just days before the academy hosts its annual awards ceremony, one of the biggest dates in the movie calendar. William isn’t attending this year, as it comes at the start of half term, but instead he put his focus on the film makers of the future during an afternoon which took in some of the issues facing those attempting to make it big on and off the big screen.

The school was co-founded by Tim Bevan who is also co-chairman of Working Title Films. He revealed his reasons for backing the academy, saying ”we wanted to provide the opportunity for people from diverse backgrounds, from not so much privilege”.

The academy provides a wide range of training, covering everything from costume and make up to script writing, camera operating and editing. Prince William got the chance to try out plenty of the skills involved and seemed to particularly enjoy the chance to work a camera.

He also spoke of the importance of ensuring a wide range of students can access the training, saying he wanted it to be and be seen as open to people from all parts of society.

The London Screen Academy opened in 2019 and now provides sixth form education to 900 students who also get the chance to study English and Maths to A Level during their time there.
