
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is currently in police custody following his arrest earlier today.
He was detained by officers from Thames Valley Police who arrived at his home on the Sandringham estate just after 8am.
Police can hold him for 24 hours meaning that the former prince could spend a night in a prison cell.
Thames Valley Police have confirmed that they detained a man in his sixties, saying ”“as part of the investigation, we have today arrested a man in his sixties from Norfolk on suspicion of misconduct in public office and are carrying out searches at addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk. The man remains in police custody at this time.”
Officers have said they won’t be naming the man publicly, in line with national guidelines. However, it is understood he is Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
He has been arrested by officers on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
Police are also searching properties in Berkshire and Norfolk. Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor lived at Royal Lodge in Berkshire until January when he moved to the Sandringham estate in Norfolk.
The arrest was captured by photographers who were understood to be on site as today is the 66th birthday of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
King Charles is set to appear in public for the first time since his brother’s arrest when he attends London Fashion Week later today.
