The Princess of Wales takes a leading role at Trooping The Colour

The Princess of Wales joins King Charles and Queen Camilla on the dais at Trooping the Colour

The Princess of Wales has taken a leading role at this year’s Trooping The Colour, with the 43-year-old royal accompanying The King and Queen on the Dais in Horse Guards Parade.

For the first time, Catherine sat alongside both the Monarch and Queen Consort as she watched the military parade.

Her husband, the Prince of Wales, took part in the parade on horseback, riding a horse called Darby.

Catherine travelled from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards in an Ascot Landau carriage.

This luxury four-wheeled carriage is one of five kept by the Royal Mews and purchased during the reign of Queen Victoria.

As the name suggests, the Ascot Landaus are well known for their role in the carriage procession at Royal Ascot each year.

Accompanying the Monarch on the Dias at the birthday parade is a huge honour.

In previous years, the late Queen Elizabeth II was accompanied by her cousin, the Duke of Kent.

The Princess previously sat on the dais with Queen Camilla during the first Trooping of The King’s reign while His Majesty rode in the parade. This is the first time Catherine has sat with both King and Queen for this prestigious event.
