“Our hearts are overflowing” — Princess Beatrice’s family reacts to Athena’s arrival

Baby Athena is already inspiring outpourings of love on social media, from her proud father, grandmother and aunt!

The Royal Family shared the news that Princess Beatrice had given birth to her second child, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, on 22 January. She joins older sister Sienna and older half-brother Wolfie.

On Instagram, Athena’s father, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, wrote: “We welcomed Baby Athena into our lives last week. She is tiny and absolutely perfect. We are all (including Wolfie and Sienna) already completely besotted with her.

“Our hearts are overflowing with love for you, baby Athena. 💕

Her grandmother, Sarah, Duchess of York, took to Instagram to share that she is “overflowing with love and joy to be able to welcome Athena Elizabeth Rose into the world.” Sarah added that her newest grandchild is “already so adored” and that she was “incredibly blessed to be a Granny once again.”

“So proud of Edo, Beatrice and the rest of my little 5-a-side team!” she wrote. Edo replied to her post: “The best Gigi 💕

Meanwhile, Princess Eugenie shared the Royal Family’s post to her official Instagram Stories and wrote: “Welcome Baby Girl”.

Athena was born on 22 January, weighing 4 pounds and 5 ounces. She is currently 11th in line to the throne.
