Princess Anne celebrates 75th birthday with new photo to mark milestone moment

Princess Anne in royal blue in a new photo to mark her 75th birthday

The Princess Royal cuts a relaxed and confident figure in a new birthday portrait released just as she turns 75.

With hours to go until her milestone is reached, Anne is seen in a photo taken at her home at Gatcombe to mark the occassion.

The Princess, only sister of King Charles III, celebrates her big day on August 15th 2025.

In true Anne style, her festivities will be private. It’s reported that she will be on a quiet break with her husband. Sir Tim Laurence.

The photo, taken by John Swannell, shows Anne in royal blue. The Princess wears a striking dress with white trim and looks really rather regal in the image marking her milestone birthday.

It follows a more formal portrait from Chris Jackson for Getty which showed the Princess Royal in tiara and with her royal orders on as she prepared to take part in the State Banquet for President Emmanuel Macron of France.

Princess Anne’s summer break for birthday celebrations will be brief. At 75, she remains the hardest working member of the Royal Family, completing hundreds of engagements every year.

She is patron of dozens of charities and organisations and has a long string of military associations, all of which she takes seriously and to which she shows undeniable devotion.

The Princess Royal has shown no signs of slowing down and only last month was reported to have expressed opinions privately on the Monarchy becoming more focused on big issues rather than day to day events.

The King is a huge admirer of his sister and is said to turn to her regularly for advice. There is an age gap of just 21 months between them and they were very close growing up. Charles and Anne began public engagements and overseas tours together, alongside their parents, and the two are said to share many of the same ideals.

Anne Elizabeth Alice Louise was born on August 15th 1950 at Clarence House, London, the second child and only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. for the first eight years of her mother’s reign, Anne was second in line to the throne but slowly moved down the succession with the arrival of brothers, niece and nephews. She is currently 18th in line.

Despite a reputation for no nonsense, Anne is close to her family with her son, Peter Phillips, and daughter, Zara Tindall, living very close by to her. She dotes on her five grandchildren.

And as she enters her 76th year, she has more family happiness to look forward to. Peter Phillips recently announced his engagement to Harriet Sperling meaning Anne will soon have another royal wedding to attend.
