It’s the ultimate way to fly the flag and one royal duchess likes to make the most of it.
As the Duchess of Gloucester attended a film premiere at Windsor Castle, she chose a handbag in a Union Jack design.
The Duchess was one of the royal guests at the first showing of a new Amazon Prime movie about Charles III’s personal philosophy around the environment and added the bag to her glamourous evening look.
She wore a striking black blouse and pleated skirt for the event, accessorised with gold jewellery and the bag.
And it’s not the first time that the Duchess of Gloucester has used fashion to fly the flag.
The bag in question, by Jan Constantine, was first seen in May 2025 when the duchess chose it for an event marking 80 years since VE Day. It was seen as a striking patriotic gesture as the commemorations unfolded.
Later the same year, the Duchess of Gloucester also used the bag during the State Visit to the UK by the President of Germany.
The bag is a Union Jack design on both sides while the front also features a large red heart in its centre.
The Duchess of Gloucester, who was born in Denmark and who married the current Duke of Gloucester in 1972, is noted for her understated elegance.
She flew the flag while the other royal guests at the premiere chose to match their outfits to the theme.
Queen Camilla wore a dark green velvet overcoat with a forest green trouser suit for the debut of the film which has the environment at its heart.
The Duchess of Edinburgh attended in a dark green satin dress.
King Charles, meanwhile, had the most regal outfit of the night. The King chose to attend in Windsor dress, a uniform worn by male members of the Royal Family inside the castle for over 200 years.
