<![CDATA[The wedding dress of Diana, Princess of Wales, has
now been returned to her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.
The
famous dress was designed by David and Elizabeth Emmanuel, and
featured a 25ft train, puffed sleeves and a ruffled collar. It has
been kept on the Althorp Estate, Diana’s childhood home, for two
months of the year, as part of an exhibition called ‘Diana: A
Celebration’, alongside other famous gowns and items belonging to
her.
Earl Spencer, Diana’s brother, said that Diana’s will wanted him to
look after her belongings until both William and Harry turned 30.
The youngest son of The Princess of Wales turns 30 on 15th of
September, and so the dress is now being returned to her two
sons.
The rest of the year, Earl Spencer allowed the dress to be
transported around the globe for the world, which became somewhat
obsessed by Diana during her life, to see; it is estimated that 700
million people have seen the iconic wedding gown. More than £1 million has been raised from the
proceeds of the exhibition for the Diana, Princess of Wales
Memorial Fund.
The last place it was exhibited was in Cincinnati, USA, for six
months, as part of an exhibition of The Princess’s clothes and
belongings.
Buckingham Palace confirmed to The Mail on Sunday that the
dress and some other possessions of Diana’s were returned to the
Princes; it has been reported that the dress was handed over on
31st August, the exact date of her death, a poignant moment for
William and Harry, no doubt.
There have been suggestions that William and Harry will now display
the collection of items and dresses will at Kensington Palace – we
will keep you update on this, as no doubt it will be a popular
exhibition should it come to fruition.

My mother and I saw her wedding gown when it was originally displayed at Kensington Palace. Hope a new generation will see it in that space again…
