Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden is set to celebrate her Name Day with the public for the first time since 2019.
Victoria will mark her Name Day, 12 March, at the Royal Palace in Stockholm. The public is invited to the Inner Courtyard to celebrate the day with the Crown Princess.
The Armed Forces will also be in the Inner Courtyard to honour the heir to the throne.
Although the Crown Princess usually accepts gifts from the public on her Name Day, the Royal Court has said gifts would not be able to be handed over this year. It is out of precaution and for the safety of everyone due to the global health crisis.
The Royal Court has asked that anyone feeling ill or who are showing symptoms stay home. They asked that those who are not vaccinated take extra precautions.
Usually, Crown Princess Victoria is accompanied by her husband, Prince Daniel and their two children, Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar.
Victoria’s Name Day celebrations were scaled back in 2020 due to the global health crisis, and she only met with a few Armed Forces members at the Royal Palace. The event was cancelled in line with Sweden’s Public Health Authority’s advice at the time. In 2021, she and Prince Daniel tested positive for COVID-19, so the celebrations had to be cancelled.
Victoria’s Name Day is celebrated annually in Sweden on 12 March and has been since the 1990s.
