Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway has turned her attention to the issue of climate change and recently hosted the Children’s Climate Panel at the Royal Palace in Oslo.
The Children’s Climate Panel is made up of eight children from across Norway. The eleven to eighteen year olds act as a liaison for children across Norway by meeting with politicians and other policy makers and sharing their opinions.
The panel is part of Environmental Agents, an organisation that engages with children on sustainability and environmental issues including climate change.
The future Norwegian queen invited the Panel to the palace to learn more about their thoughts and goals. She shared how impressed she was with the group and why the initiative is important, saying ”I had a very pleasant meeting with the Children’s Climate Panel today. They impressed me with their knowledge and effort. I hope everyone will listen to what they have to say.”
Princess Ingrid Alexandra followed in her parents footsteps with the meeting, as Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette Marit have also hosted the Children’s Climate Panel.
While she will be leaving for Australia in August to attend the University of Sydney, Ingrid Alexandra is staying busy. This past weekend, she was at a children’s festival in Oslo after the young organisers invited her, even getting into the spirit with face paints.
