It’s a snip! Frederik and Mary open the Danish Pavilion as Paris 2024 arrives

King Frederik and Queen Mary arrived in Paris for the Olympic Games and had a busy day with the Danish contingent.

The Danish King and Queen opened the Danish Pavilion at the House of Denmark; the House is a Danish cultural centre located off the Champs-Elysées.

The Danish Pavilion will be open to visitors throughout the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Visitors can try Danish cuisine and beverages, learn more about Danish lifestyles and athletics, see examples of Danish architecture, and learn about the country’s push for sustainability.

Their Majesties cut the ribbon to officially open the Danish Pavilion and along with the Danish Ambassador to France, Michael Starbæk Christensen, took a tour of the pavilion to see all of the different exhibitions throughout. They were also able to chat with many visiting Danish people who are in Paris for the Olympics.

King Frederik is a member of the International Olympic Committee; he joined the IOC in 2009. He has been a member of several different IOC subcommittees, including the Coordination for the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad Paris 2024 (2017-2021).

Later, they attended a reception at the Louvre. The King and Queen of Spain, the King of the Netherlands, the King and Queen of the Belgians and the Grand Duke and Duchess of Luxembourg were also present along with Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco.

King Frederik and Queen Mary are expected to attend the Opening Ceremonies on July 26th 2024, as are several other visiting royals.
