Princess Alexandra has missed a key family event leading to concerns over her health.
The 89 year old was set to attend a concert held at the weekend in memory of her sister-in-law, Katharine, The Duchess of Kent.
Alexandra, a close friend of Katharine as well as her sister in law, was even listed in the Court Circular as having been at the musical tribute.
However, it emerged soon afterwards that she had not been able to attend.
That’s led to concerns over her health. The princess, who will turn 90 in December, was last seen at a public royal event in April when she joined a family tribute to Queen Elizabeth II.
Princess Alexandra has been a working royal since the 1950s and was still carrying out a handful of engagements until earlier this year. She was once one of the most familiar royal faces, taking on hundreds of duties a year.
She remains patron or president of over 100 organisations, reflecting her vast array of interests from health care to art.
The musical tribute to the Duchess of Kent was attended by the Duke of Kent, 90, and by his and Alexandra’s younger brother, Prince Michael of Kent, 84.
The Duke, born Prince Edward, along with Alexandra and Michael is a child of George and Marina, Duke and Duchess of Kent, and all three are grandchildren of King George V.
All three were first cousins of Queen Elizabeth II.
The Duke of Kent still carries out a range of public engagements. He will celebrate his 91st birthday in October.
Katherine, The Duchess of Kent died in September 2025 at the age of 92. She had withdrawn from public engagements several decades earlier and become a music teacher. The tribute to her was organised by a charity of which she was patron, Future Talent.
Also present were two of her children. Lady Helen Taylor and Lord Nicholas Windsor were with their father for the event as were several of his grandchildren, including Lady Amelia Windsor.
