Prince and Princess of Wales in romantic move for Valentine’s Day

William and Kate, Prince and Princess of Wales in a romantic Valentine's Day photo

The Prince and Princess of Wales have shared a romantic photo to mark Valentine’s Day.

William and Kate are seen snuggled up to one another in a moody black and white image released on February 14 2026.

In an accompanying message, the couple added a sweet pink love heart emoji after wishing ”Happy Valentine’s Day”.

While the couple are known for sharing photos to mark events like birthdays and anniversaries, their Valentine’s move seems to be the start of a new tradition. It’s the second year in a row they’ve marked the day for lovers publicly and it now seems to be part of the royal calendar.

The never before seen picture was taken by Josh Shinner on a spring day last year.

The couple are celebrating Valentine’s Day after a week which has seen Prince William carry out a visit to Saudi Arabia at the request of the government.

Meanwhile, Kate was at a school to mark Children’s Mental Health week. The Princess spent time with youngsters as part of the week long events that form part of the initiative by one of her charities, Place2Be. The Princess of Wales is their patron.

As she marked Children’s Mental Health Week, Kate issued a personal statement in which she said ”this year’s Place2Be Children’s Mental Health Week is about the importance of belonging. It can be easy to overlook the importance of the things that matter most; love, care and time spent together. Belonging and connection is so important, and is a fundamental part of early childhood development. As Patron of Place2Be, I am incredibly proud of the work they do to support families and communities to nurture children and young people.”

The Prince and Princess of Wales have shared an increasing number of more personal posts on social media in recent years with Kate taking a particular care to share her love of nature in posts as she spoke of the importance of the outdoors in helping her through her cancer treatment and recovery.

In coming weeks, they are expected to have a major role in the State Visit by the President of Nigeria which will be hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle.
